TRIP REPORT

[Kenya & Tanzania - November 2007]

All praise and glory to God for His provision and protection. I left Canada not having sufficient finances for the trip expenses. Along the way, God provided everything that was needed! As I travelled by public transportation from Nairobi to the various towns, He kept me safe. There are many tragic accidents involving public vehicles.

In the town of Narok, one night we were in the church van when it shut down suddenly. We evacuated and saw that it was on fire right under the seat where I had been sitting. God protected us. Many people were praying and I am very grateful for that.

New Doors

God opened new doors of opportunity into three churches where I had not gone before. At Huruma House Of Prayer, an average attendance of 160 persons showed up for lunch hour services. It was fascinating to see so many coming to services during their lunch break. The teaching on the subject of FAITH was well-received. The pastors and I prayed for many people and they were visibly touched by the Holy Spirit.

At City Victory Temple the Lord’s presence was rich and there was a great time of prayer following the Sunday service. I was excited as I sensed that God was giving the church great victory over past oppression. The congregation has faced many difficulties and even the tent where they were meeting was torn down by the city workers.

Just outside Kitale, in one of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God churches, we had a beautiful service. Almost everyone came to the altar and passionately reached out to God as we felt His presence.

Other places

At Quarry slum in Nairobi [familiar territory] and in the town of Narok we held one-day seminars, “Managing God’s Money”. We viewed the DVD by Michel Bell, a Canadian Christian author and former business man. Those who attended [73 and 20 respectively] appreciated the seminars. It was the first time they had received teaching on money management. My friend in Nairobi said, “You are always coming with something new.” God does new things in our lives!

Along with all of the above, there were evening revival, and Sunday services at Quarry and Narok, two services at Kitale Pentecostal Church, and a youth service in Quarry.

Highlight

The highlight in Kenya was a special service that I held for the children in Quarry. About three hundred children showed up on a Saturday afternoon. They sang and worshipped God so beautifully. They listened attentively to the Bible teaching and some of them prayed to receive Jesus. I invited those who wanted additional prayer to remain. So many of them stayed back that I was amazed. These children were seeking after God.

Evening service, Dar es Salaam
First time in Tanzania

It was my first time in Tanzania hosted by Pastor & Mrs Mutyetumo of Jesus Celebration Center in Dar es Salaam. God gave me the privilege of being the first person from Canada and the Caribbean to minister there. It was an awesome experience. I spoke on a radio program, evening services, Sunday services and even addressed a graduation ceremony at the church-run nursery school. We had a beautiful time together. God met with us.

There were about 4,800 in attendance at all the services and seminars. God was at work, saving, healing, setting people free from bondages, encouraging and strengthening. At one service in Narok two men gave their lives to Jesus. One was a young Maasai school teacher who I invited to the service. He came to collect school supplies that were sent to him from Canada and received Jesus as his Savior that day. God is so merciful.
